Youth Leadership Forum for Community Transformation (YLFCT) in Oklahoma City

The Youth Leadership Forum for Community Transformation (YLFCT) in Oklahoma City is a three-day immersion in the legacy of Oklahoma City’s Civil Rights Movement and ethnic diversity in America. OCCJ launched the first Youth Leadership Forum in Tulsa  as a collaboration between OCCJ and Greenwood Rising, and we are now delighted to expand this program into Oklahoma City-metro area due to the generous contributions of the United Way of Central Oklahoma Wayfinder Grant. Through a variety of workshops and activities, youth ages 14-18 from the Oklahoma City Metro area come together to have meaningful conversations about their communities.

YLFCT is a youth-led discussion space where youth are able to safely and respectfully have conversations about their experiences with race and ethnicity. Participants discuss and learn how to process difficult topics, developing awareness and skills to lead in a diverse society. At the end of the program, youth develop an action plan to take back to complete a follow-up community project and to continue conversations after the program. Those who successfully complete their project will receive $200!

YLFCT OKC is offered for OKC-metro youth ages 14 - 18 at NO COST Spring 2023 during the following days and times*:

  • Friday, April 14: 4pm - 7pm
  • Saturday, April 15: 9am - 5pm
  • Saturday, April 22: 9am - 5pm

*The content of each session builds upon the content from prior sessions. Because of this, all three days are required for full participation.*

Registration for this program is now closed. Please contact Cara Golden to be added to the waitlist for next year's program.
