the sharing of thoughts\, feelings\, experiences\, and perspectives among
a diverse group of people. Facilitators from different heritages create a
safe\, respectful environment where participants can explore the issues of
racism and its repercussions. Information is provided by the facilitators
on such topics as defining prejudice and racism\, where racism originates
\, how racism is perpetuated\, the forms of racism\, and positive means fo
r overcoming racism and healing its wounds. Participants are then encourag
ed to dialogue within guidelines that promote real listening and understan
ding.\n\nDialogue: Racism functions with the ultimate goal of healing from
the history of racial injustice. It operates with the understanding that
although Institutional Racism is at the core of racial injustice and preve
nts access to opportunity\, it is individuals who function in these instit
utions and perpetuate racism in its many forms. Dialogue: Racism seeks to
create an environment in which men and women of all races can address each
other in a spirit of open and honest discussion\, free of blame and victi
mization. The principle of trusting consultation\, grounded in the belief
that truth lies not in the individual perspective\, but in the oneness of
 humanity.
