The September issue of the OCCJ newsletter highlights another successful Anytown, Oklahoma, OCCJ's human relations camp for teens (July 27 - August 2). Also noteworthy is a recent visit by Oliver "Buzz" Thomas, a leading attorney and expert on religion in the public schools in the context of the First Amendment. Mr. Thomas addressed the Tulsa Press Club and a meeting of hundreds of superintendents and school administrators in Oklahoma City on August 21 and 22, respectively.
This issue spotlights several exciting upcoming 50th Anniversary events like: (1) the OCCJ 50th Anniversary Award Dinner honoring the Tulsa World on November 6 at the BOK Center; (2) the "March Toward CommUNITY" slated for October 5; and (3) an art/essay contest for school age participants based on the "This I Believe" project.
